Not in Philomath Anymore- NY Day 1

We didn’t really know what to do once we got to the hotel so we decided to go exploring after taking awesome warm showers that were amazing after the five and a half hour plane ride.  We’re staying at the Hilton which is a few blocks south of Central Park so that’s where we decided to start.  Nobody was kidding about the number of taxis in this town!  There are almost more of them than there are real cars…it’s just hard to get a picture of them because they’re always moving!  Central Park was beautiful, especially because of the boarder of skyscrapers.  We never saw any skyscrapers in Paris, because they had this law that they all had to be smaller than the Eiffel Tower or someother monument.  We spent a while in Central Park and it was getting dark as we left and headed for Times Square.  I saw this really fancy lady in a BEAUTIFUL flapper dress, but didn’t get a picture in time before she disappeared into a really fancy restaurant.  Times Square was crazy! They have this set of red bleachers where you can just sit and take in the massive amounts of light and energy.  It was like the entire world was lit up and moving around me and there was soooo much to see.  Even though every where else was pitch black, in Times Square it was always daytime.  I could always tell where I was because of this huge Pepsi ad of Santa and his Elves on the beach drinking Pepsi (this one wasn’t animated so it was dependable ;) After that we meandered back towards our hotel and stopped at the Rockefeller Center.  The iceskating place was covered with little umbrellas and the entire area was surrounded by national flags.  It took me a little bit to find the Egyptian one.  Right infront of it was the Lego store and it was crazy, some people have too much time in their life to make huge Lego dragons and statues.  On the way to the hotel we passed this boutique that had the same strange ‘newspaper’ trench coat that I had seen someone wearing when we had eaten lunch.  It was crinkled like newspaper, but after a closer look I realized that it was acctually fabric.  Weird.
